What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Mailing List

If you choose to opt-into our mailing list, you agree to share your personal data with us for the purpose of receiving periodical updates about us. You can always unsubscribe from the list directly from any newsletter email you have received in your inbox.

External Links

Our site includes many links that lead to external sites. If you click on them, they will open in a new tab, to indicate that you are leaving our site. We cannot control whether external sites are GDPR-compliant or not, so it is up to you to decide whether to continue browsing these external websites.

Comments

We do not have a commenting system on our site.

Teacher’s Forum

Our site has a dedicated invite-only area for teachers associated with our foundation. By joining this area, teachers agree to share their personal data and any posts they publish on our forum to be displayed to all other logged-in users (teachers).

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

We do not have contact forms on our website.

Cookies

We use cookies to ensure that we give you the best experience on our website. Upon entering our website, you will notice a bar at the bottom asking for your consent to use cookies. If you select no, no cookie data will sent to us. If you select yes, cookie data will be sent. You can revoke all these cookies directly from within your browser. To check how to do so, you can Google “revoke cookies [name of browser]“.

If you have an account (a feature reserved only to AMF teachers) and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish a forum post, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the poar you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous data from visitors. IP’s are collected for the purpose of displaying geographical information. Other than that, no personal information is being collected. We at Arthur Miller Foundation have access to this information, but it is stored on Google’s servers and are subject to their own privacy policy.

Donations

All direct donations to us collected via this website are stored on our donation management system, eTapestry, including personal information. This is done to comply with the tax authorities in the US. We do not use this information for any other purpose but communicating with donors regarding their existing donation, to answer any questions they might have or if they would like to cancel a recurring donation.

Who we share your data with

We do not share your data with any third party for advertising purposes. Our donation processor (Blackbaud) keeps donor data secure and do not use it for any other purpose than our tax record keeping at AMF. Mailchimp, our mailing list service, also has data of mailing list opt-ins, and only we at AMF have access to this information.

How long we retain your data

For users that register on our website (exclusive to AMF teachers), we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you are an AMF teacher and you have an account on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

We do not send your data to any third-party.

How we protect your data

Our files and database are stored on our Flywheel’s (our web host) storage solution. They are champions of website security. They protect the site from potential breaches 24/7 and have a dedicated team that makes sure no data is compromised.  You may read about Flywheel’s approach to site security here.

All communications on this website are secure using 256-bit SSL encryption. Donations and financial transactions are secured by eTapestry/Blackbaud.

What data breach procedures we have in place

We work closely with our providers – Flywheel, eTapestry and Blackbaud, to ensure the safety of our site and the privacy of our users. Each of our providers has a security unit that monitors, protects and acts against data breach procedures. In the very rare case that a breach compromises any personal info, we will notify our users of that and work with them to restore and regain confidence in the confidentiality of their personal information.

We do not receive any information from third parties on our users.
